It’s About to Rain tells a universal story about immigrants facing expulsion from a country where they have lived for decades.Said (Lorenzo Baglioni), born and raised in Italy by Algerian parents, is a typical student. He works part-time as a baker, has a beautiful girlfriend, and loves football. When his father loses his job, the family is unable to renew their residency visa as they have done for the past 30 years, and they receive a letter of expulsion. Said, who considers himself entirely Italian, is told to “go home” to Algeria, a country he has never even visited. While his brother hides out, Said decides to use the press and legal system to battle bureaucracy.
